Walmart prices have zoomed-Food

Did a little shopping at the Walmart Supercenter and noticed some super increases (on a percentage basis) from just two weeks ago.

Note that I'm a creature of habit and tend to buy certain specific items.

The Walmart brand (Great Value) Chicken noodle soup...has been 44 cents per can for ages, then went up to 48 cents per can. Now it's 52 cents per can. The Campbells went from .60 to .68 cents per can. I have a supply of 30 cans that I like to maintain.

The Walmart brand (Great Value) Saltine crackers. Went from .87 a box to 1.00 per box... I keep 3 on hand.

The Walmart brand (Great Value) vanilla cream-centered cookies. Have been a 1.50 per pkg. for ages. Now 1.88 per pkg.

The Walmart brand (Great Value) ravioli (large cans) went from 1.78 a can to 1.87 per can. Maybe they think I'm dyslexic.

The Walmart brand (Great Value) beef stew (small can)...went from 1.42 per can to (a whopping) 1.68 per can. We keep a dozen cans on hand.

French bread...from .99 a loaf to 1.44 a loaf. Wow!

Hunts & Del Monte canned speghetti sauce. The hunts went from .82 a can to .88 a can then to .92. The Del Monte (my preferred) went from .88 to .98. Now their both 1.00 per can.

What stayed the same? Icehouse beer...6 pack of 16 ounce tallboys, still 3.76 a 6 pack. The Walmart brand (Great Value) chips, pretzels and tortilla chips...also The Walmart brand (Great Value) salsa.

I noticed also that the 'brand name' hostess snacks and brand name chips; Ruffles-Fritos, etcetera have gained in price....the sections were fully stocked and mostly ignored by shoppers.

Lots of Escalades and Navigators in the parking lot. Looks like the gourmet crowd is coming down here with the rest of us.

Just be glad anything is available at any price!

(no, I don't like the inflation in food prices one bit, but I recognize something far worse than 25-50 cent moves in price per item is "in store" for all of us, soon)

You have to watch wallmarts stupid "rollback" BS too. For example 32oz bottles of gatorade were 82 cents for at least a year. Then they raised the price to 88 cents, few weeks later 92, then 98 cents. Then I see a sign proclaiming gatorade 32 oz bottles Now 98 cents was 1.08.

another thing about walmart is they allow price differences in stores, I have 3 supercenters within a 10 mile radius and each one *can* have a different price on the same item. some of the items the OP mentions are still at the lows sited, no price increases yet.

All modern agriculture is simply the conversion of petrol to food products.

You're eating oil, does food prices make sense to you now ?

That's hoarding, you must find your receipt and return those items to the store.
Remember: the "3 day rule" any more than 3 days worth is hoarding, and that is bad..
